Final AP Top 25 women's poll has Iowa No. 2 behind unbeaten South Carolina
VERY COOL, VERY COOL. YOU KNOW, HOME OF THE HAWKEYES, CARVER-HAWKEYE ARENA WAS PACKED TODAY. YEAH, IT WAS vlog BEAU BOWMAN TRAVELED IOWA CITY WHERE FANS REFLECTED ON IOWA’S HISTORIC SEASON. THOUSANDS OF IOWA FANS SHOWED UP TO CARVER-HAWKEYE ARENA THIS AFTERNOON TO CHEER ON THE HAWKEYES IN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. AND EVEN THOUGH IT’S NOT THE RESULT THEY WERE LOOKING FOR, THE FANS SAY THEY COULDN’T BE MORE PROUD OF WHAT THIS TEAM HAS ACCOMPLISHED. IOWA FANS SHOWED UP IN THOUSANDS AT CARVER-HAWKEYE ARENA TO WITNESS THE FINAL CHAPTER IN THE HOME OF THE HAWKS. IT’S SO FUN CHEERING ON EVERY WEEK, WATCHING IT AT HOME, COMING HERE, THESE WATCH PARTIES. IT’S A GREAT EXPERIENCE. IOWA DOES IT THE BEST. A TEN ZERO START AND A GREAT FIRST HALF FOR THE HAWKEYES. HAD THE FANS ON THEIR FEET. BUT AS THE CLOCK TICKED AWAY IN THE FOURTH QUARTER, IT SEEMED INEVITABLE IOWA WOULD NOT WALK AWAY ON TOP. IT’S TOUGH, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT’S TWO YEARS IN A ROW. YOU KNOW, WE MADE IT THERE AND THEN JUST TO COME THIS CLOSE AND FALL SHORT IN THE END. BUT CAME OUT HOT. THOUGHT WE HAD THEM THERE BUT JUST COULDN’T FINISH. BUT AS ANYONE FROM CARVER TO CLEVELAND WOULD TELL YOU, THE SEASON WON’T BE DEFINED BY ITS ENDING, BUT RATHER HOW THEY GOT TO THIS POINT. AND HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE OUT HERE TONIGHT. HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE DOWNTOWN WATCHING FROM HOME? THE SENSE OF COMMUNITY THAT SHE HAS CREATED FOR IOWA WOMEN AND IOWA PEOPLE IN GENERAL IS AMAZING. SELLOUTS. EVERY NIGHT, CAITLIN CLARK AND THE HAWKS WERE MUST SEE TV SHATTERING ANY AND ALL KINDS OF VIEWERSHIP RECORDS. AND WHILE THIS CORE GROUP OF SENIORS TURNS THE PAGE TO EXPLORE NEW ENDEAVORS, IOWANS WON’T SOON FORGET THE IMPACT THEY MADE TO GROW THE SPORT. I’M REALLY PROUD OF THE YOUNG WOMEN THAT PLAYED TODAY AND I’M REALLY EXCITED TO CONTINUE TO WATCH THEM NEXT YEAR. SO WHILE ALL THE SENIORS ARE MOVING ON TO THE NEXT CHAPTER OF THEIR LIVES NEXT YEAR, A LOT OF THE FANS SAY THEY’LL BE RIGHT BACK HERE, PACK THE STADIUM AND CHEER ON THE NEXT GENERATION OF IOWA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL IN CARVER HAWKEYE ARENA.
