See what it actually looks like inside the Olympic village

This is how the other (more athletic) half lives when they're competing at the games

The Olympic Village always has a certain air of mystery around it because it's off limits to regular non-athletic people. Seriously, what happens when you put this many world-class athletes in the same housing structure for three weeks while they're competing in potentially the most stressful moments of their careers? Ugh, to be a fly on the wall! But apparently, it's a lot less glamorous than you may be picturing. Instead of luxurious hotels with fluffy bathrobes, the athletes stay in something a lot closer to a college dorm. Check out the Olympic digs below. There are technically two villages for this year's Olympics. One is on the Korean coast, another is in the mountains. The bedrooms, below, are pretty bare bones, but they have colorful PyeongChang themed bedding. The rooms are designed to be like suites, with athletes sharing common rooms (below) and sometimes even bathrooms. Athletes are grouped by sport. The Olympic Village has a , because if you're going to be up on a podium holding a medal for the entire world to see, obviously your nails have to look the part. The Village also has a hair salon, because again, you've gotta look great for the cameras. Athletes eat in these cafeteria-like dining areas, which is really bringing back a college #tbt moment for me. There's also a McDonald's in the village. Being at the Olympics isn't an excuse to give up leg day, though, so the Olympic Villages have gyms, too, for training exercises. But it's not all serious. The athletes get to have some fun in recreation rooms with ping pong and foosball tables. If only they had solo cups!! Follow Emma on Instagram.
