Richardson signed a proclamation that tomorrow, April 25th, is "Jay Byers Day." Right now- Hy-Vee is taking steps to focus on the quality of its fresh items. People working in the Chariton location -- focus on fresh cut fruits and vegetables. All of these are directly shipped to Hy-Vee stores. The new plan is to move the preparation of those meals and produce back to the stores -- So they can be prepared there and immediately placed on shelves. That will start next month in May -- With the operations in the Ankeny and Chariton facilities coming to an end on June 24th. The company says it will still own both spaces -- As it explores options that could create additional employment opportunities. Hy-Vee also says it's committed to assisting the employees impacted with this change. The company plans on organizing hiring events in an effort to place as many employees as possible in Hy-Vee stores. In fact -- a spokesperson tells me -- the company had people with HR and local stores at the facilities today helping with placement plans for employee
