THIS IS A NEW UPDATE TO WHAT WE HEARD EARLIER IN THE WEEK. ORIGINALLY, ADVOCATE AURORA HEALTH SAID AN EMPLOYEE ACCIDENTALLY LEFT OUT THE VIALS. NOW THEY’RE SAYING THAT EMPLOYEE PURPOSEFULLY SABOTAGED MORE THAN 500 DOSES OF THE MODERNA VACCINE, BY TAKING THEM OUT OF THE PHARMACY REFRIGERATOR AND LEAVING THEM OUT OVERNIGHT IN A STATEMENT TONIGHT ADVOCATE AURORA SAYS, "THE INDIVIDUAL IN QUESTION TODAY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THEY INTENTIONALLY REMOVED THE VACCINE FROM REFRIGERATION. THEY GO ON TO SAY, WE ARE MORE THAN DISAPPOINTED THAT THIS INDIVIDUAL’S ACTIONS WILL RESULT IN A DELAY OF MORE THAN 500 PEOPLE RECEIVING THEIR VACCINE. After an initial internal investigation at Aurora Medical Center-Grafton, it was first believed to be human error.But then the person in question Wednesday admitted that they intentionally removed the vaccine from refrigeration. That person is no longer employed there, Advocate Aurora Health said in a news release. More than 500 doses of the vaccine had to be thrown out. Each vial contained 10 doses.Some of the vaccine doses were administered to team members on Dec. 26 within the approved 12-hour post-refrigeration window but most had to be discarded because of temperature requirements, Advocate Aurora Health said.The Moderna vaccine can be out of refrigeration for 12 hours.Advocate Aurora Health says it has notified the proper authorities. More information is expected to be released Thursday.

After an initial internal investigation at Aurora Medical Center-Grafton, it was first believed to be human error.

But then the person in question Wednesday admitted that they intentionally removed the vaccine from refrigeration.

That person is no longer employed there, Advocate Aurora Health said in a news release.

More than 500 doses of the vaccine had to be thrown out. Each vial contained 10 doses.
