Listen up, new parents: If you're desperate for a (and your little one is, too), this mom's clever hack may be just the trick you need.
Laura Gerson found that leaving 10 pacifiers in the crib of her at the time 11-month old-daughter, Amelia, prevented her from fussing and crying at night, a trick she shared with her fellow mothers in .
Amelia, like many other babies who sleep with a pacifier, would lose or drop her "dummy" quite often, and this simple solution ensured she always has one at her disposal. The baby also finds it soothing to hold one in each hand while she sleeps.
Gerson claimed the tot slept without interruption for 12 hours a night.
"Since my little one was about 3 months old, she's gone to bed with roughly 10 dummies in with her," Gerson wrote in page. "Found that when she cried, all she wanted was a dummy then she'd go back off. 99% of the time she feels around, finds a dummy, sticks it in and she's sorted."
Thanks to her large binky collection, Gerson says Amelia didn't fuss or require Gerson's attention throughout the night for eight months straight.
When the hack was posted originally in the group and later shared on the in 2018, it went viral, with dozens of other mothers praising Gerson and chiming in to share their own positive experiences. The trick routinely gets re-shared within similar groups simply because it works.
"Why, why, why did I not think of this?! My little one loves his dummy and I am always getting up to put it back in," one mother wrote.
"I do this too — 3 up each end of the cot plus one in her mouth and one attached to a comforter," another shared.
