Hegseth’s younger brother is serving in a key role as liaison and senior adviser inside the Pentagon

Hegseth’s younger brother is serving in a key role as liaison and senior adviser inside the Pentagon
Mind telling us *** little bit about. Your thoughts on um the text and the text messages and the article from the editor that was in that text message thread. You know, I served 11 years as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve, and first and foremost, what you learn in the Navy as an intelligence officer is that. Classified information has got to be protected because when it's not, people lose their lives. What Pete Hegseth has done is to put our service members in danger. This was *** completely improper, outrageous, and truly dangerous breach. Of our laws and also of the trust of the men and women who serve our country in uniform. Public trust is so important. It's so important that the Department of Defense to have faith that our leaders are going to follow the same rules that the men and women who put on the uniform every day to keep our country safe are following. And what we see here is *** blatant violation of those rules and of the trust that is so central to our military. I know from my time at the Department of Justice how important *** thorough and impartial investigation into this kind of conduct is, and I urge for that kind of investigation to begin immediately um and I know from my service on the House Armed Services Committee that I'm going to be completely focused on ensuring that we have accountability here. I, I said, you know, as *** member of the House of Representatives, I don't have, I didn't have *** vote on Pete Hegseth's nomination. But I said loud and clear then what I believe now he lacks the judgment to serve as our Secretary of Defense. He lacks the experience to do this job in the way that the American people deserve, and he should resign immediately. Actually, that last statement just led to my next question. Will you be calling for the resignation? I am calling first and foremost for *** thorough investigation into what has happened here. This was an improper and truly dangerous breach of our laws and of the public trust, and I believe, as I said, when Pete Hegseth was nominated to this role, he lacks the judgment, he lacks the experience to serve as our Secretary of Defense. He was unfit to be confirmed in this job, and he should resign immediately. There have been *** lot of um. Things that have happened here recently with federal workers and People scared about their livelihood and Medicaid and Social Security, um, and now we have, um, this text message thread what people would call *** breach. What would you say to the people at home that are steadily losing trust, um, in their? Every single day in Congress I am working to fulfill my oath to our Constitution, and Congress plays an incredibly important oversight role, and I'm going to use every single tool I have available to me to make sure that we are doing right by our Constitution and that we're doing right by our national security and our public safety. Last week I spent time with the extraordinary women and men of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Wake up every single day and do some of the hardest jobs that we could ever ask anyone in this country to do. They deserve to have *** Secretary of Defense who they can trust. They deserve to know that our leaders are going to be following the same laws that they are following and that they are coming to this work in good faith to fulfill their own obligations and oath to our Constitution, and that's what I'm going to fight for every single day. What do you say to the people at home? Yesterday, *** reporter asked text about the article, and he basically said that there were no plans that were shared over the text message spread. However, the article was released and there were screenshots and the author. Have seen the plans and we people have seen the plans on that text messages thread. What do you say um to the people at home who are confused because we had the the the Secretary of Defense saying this isn't true and then you have the author of that article with the proof saying, here it is. Look, we the people have seen what went down here and it's clear as day. I believe that we should have *** process around this, that there should be an investigation because this is we need to bring things back to normal here. This is not normal for *** Secretary of Defense to so improperly and dangerously violate our laws and our norms. And to breach the trust that our military has got to have in the person at the helm of the Department of Defense, you know, the Pentagon, there are more than 3 million people in our country who wake up every day and want to make our country safer and more secure. Those 3 million people and every person in this country deserves to know that the people at the helm have got the judgment and the experience to do this job and to do right by our country. But for the grace of God, people didn't lose their lives with this completely outrageous breach. But lives are on the line here, and that is why I believe deeply, as I have believed from the beginning, that Pete Hegseth lacks the judgment and the experience to do this absolutely important job.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's younger brother is serving in a key position inside the Pentagon as a Department of Homeland Security liaison and senior adviser, Hegseth's office confirmed. The high-profile job has meant meetings with a UFC fighting champion, a trip to Guantanamo Bay and, right now, traveling on the Pentagon's 747 aircraft as Hegseth makes his first trip as defense secretary to the Indo-Pacific.
