HE WAS LISTED ON THE TEAM’S DEPTH CHART, WHICH WAS RELEASED TODAY. MCNAMARA HAS BEEN OUT SINCE LAST MONTH AFTER SUFFERING A CONCUSSION. HE WAS REPLACED BY BRENDAN SULLIVAN, WHO HELPED GUIDE THE HAWKEYES TO A WIN OVER WISCONSIN. BUT SULLIVAN SUFFERED AN ANKLE INJURY DURING THE UCLA GAME. Cade McNamara is back as Iowa's starting quarterback. The Hawkeyes depth chart released Monday has McNamara on the QB1 line for Saturday's game at Maryland. McNamara started the first eight games of the season for the Hawkeyes, who went 5-3 overall with him under center. The sixth-year senior suffered a concussion and was replaced by Brendan Sullivan in a 40-14 win Oct. 26 against Northwestern. Sullivan, a junior transfer from Northwestern, helped guide the Hawkeyes to a 41-10 win Nov. 2 against Wisconsin and started Nov. 8 against UCLA, but suffered an ankle injury that forced coach Kirk Ferentz to play walk-on QB Jackson Stratton. Iowa hasn't confirmed reports that say Sullivan will miss the remainder of the regular season because of the injury.McNamara transferred from Michigan two years ago and missed a significant portion of 2023 fall camp with a leg injury. His season ended in the fifth game when he tore the ACL in his left knee. In 2022, a knee injury ended his season with Michigan after three games.McNamara has 1,017 yards passing in eight games this season with six touchdowns and five interceptions. The Hawkeyes (6-4 overall, 4-3 Big Ten) kick off at 11 a.m. at Maryland (4-6, 1-6) on Saturday.
