So *** lot of them are reevaluating, reevaluating their business line, evaluating their investments and also reevaluating kind of the high labor costs that they've accumulated. But some say Canada's tech sector is resilient. I think we've seen elements of this in 2001, 2002, I think we've seen it in 4009. And in all of those times we've seen, you know, we've seen great companies come out of them. “Over the past two years we’ve seen periods of dramatic growth,” Pichai wrote. “To match and fuel that growth, we hired for a different economic reality than the one we face today.”
He said the layoffs reflect a “rigorous review" carried out by Google of its operations.
