"A boy can dream"

Its been six years since the last book in the Song Of Ice and Fire series dropped, and finally George R.R. Martin has given us all the news we've been waiting for. Well, sort of.There's been constant speculation about when The Winds of Winter will be released and it looks as though the long wait might just be over.R.R. Martin hinted on his blog that the penultimate book might drop next year, saying: "I do think you will have a Westeros book from me in 2018… and who knows, maybe two. A boy can dream."R.R. Martin has taken a notoriously long time with the follow up book, so much so the Game Of Thrones TV series has actually gone past where the last book finished off.Of course, the show writers have been given the main plot plots, but other than that they are in the inviable (or terrifying) position of being able to decide the onscreen fate of the much loved characters. If the prospect of not one but two new books wasn't enough, he also confirmed in the blog post that a fifth prequel is the works. So die hard fans needn't worry, we won't be seeing the end of the world of Westeros anytime soon.
