Forecast update now shows strong, severe storms Saturday
Strong to severe storms are forecast for Iowa on Saturday.
National Weather Service forecasters said the primary threat is large hail and damaging winds. Tornadoes are possible Saturday afternoon into evening.
The greatest threat for severe weather is in the central to eastern counties, NWS forecasters said.
In addition to the chance for severe weather, the heat index is expected to soar into the upper 90s to 100 degrees. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s to 90s with dew point values in the mid 70s.
Make sure air conditioning works, drink plenty of water, never leave children or pets alone in closed vehicles, stay indoors as much as possible and limit exposure to the sun.
