Both victims killed in Florida State University shooting identified
The identities of two people who were killed during a shooting at Florida State University were revealed on Friday.
Tiru Chabba, 45, was identified by the Strom Law Firm in Greenville, South Carolina. The second victim was identified as Robert Morales.
The law firm said Chabba was on the FSU campus Thursday as an employee of a campus vendor, when, according to authorities, FSU student Phoenix Ikner, 20, opened fire shortly before noon, killing him and one other and wounding six.
According to the law firm, Chabba is survived by his wife and two children.
“Tiru Chabba’s family is going through the unimaginable now,” Sellers said. “Instead of hiding Easter eggs and visiting with friends and family, they’re living a nightmare where this loving father and devoted husband was stolen from them in an act of senseless and preventable violence.”
“We ask you to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as we fight to ensure they see justice that honors the memories of Mr. Chabba and all the victims of Thursday’s shooting.”
Aramark, the food service and facilities services provider, released a statement:
"We are heartbroken to confirm that an Aramark employee was among those killed at FSU yesterday in that senseless act of violence. We are absolutely shaken by the news and our deepest sympathies are with the family and our entire Aramark community."
Robert Morales was a university dining coordinator who had worked at Florida State since 2015, according to his LinkedIn profile.
“Today we lost my younger Brother, he was one of the victims killed at FSU,” Ricardo Morales Jr. posted on social media late Thursday. “He loved his job at FSU and his beautiful Wife and Daughter. I’m glad you were in my life.”
Morales had studied criminology at the school in the early 1990s, according to the LinkedIn profile.
The profile also said he was CEO of Black Bean Food Group, though state records show that the business was dissolved a decade ago.
Six people were also injured after Phoenix Ikner started shooting on the campus of FSU on Thursday.
Officials at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital said in a press conference Friday that the six injured victims are expected to recover from their injuries.
