THE IRISH LEGISLATURE FACES AN IMPORTANT DEADLINE THIS WEEK. vlog CHIEF POLITICAL REPORTER AMANDA ROOKER IS LIVE AT THE STATEHOUSE WITH HOW FARM BILLS HAVE TO MOVE THROUGH THE PROCESS IN ORDER TO STAY ALIVE. STEVE IT IS GOING TO BE BUSY HERE AT THE STATEHOUSE. IT’S FUN ALL WEEK. THAT MEANS THAT ALL THIS WEEK, ALL THE DIFFERENT PLANS AND IDEAS THAT LAWMAKERS HAVE HAD SO FAR THIS SESSION WILL ALL GET FUNNELED DOWN BY THE END OF THE WEEK. NOW, BY THIS FRIDAY. ALL BILLS HAVE TO MAKE IT OUT OF SUBCOMMITTEE AND COMMITTEE IN ORDER TO STAY ALIVE IN JUST ONE. AND THEY HAVE TO MAKE IT OUT OF SUBCOMMITTEE IN COMMITTEE IN JUST ONE CHAMBER IN ORDER TO STAY ALIVE. IF THEY DON’T DO THAT, THEY AUTOMATICALLY DIE AND LIKELY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BE CONSIDERED AT ALL FOR THE REST OF SESSION. SOME BIG BILLS THAT WE’RE TRACKING THAT WOULD BE UP AGAINST THAT FEDERAL FINAL DEADLINE WOULD BE THE GOVERNOR’S EDUCATION BILL, WHICH WOULD LIMIT WHICH BOOKS KIDS CAN READ IN SCHOOL, HOW TEACHERS CAN TALK ABOUT LGBTQ TOPICS, AND WHAT INFORMATION THEY’LL BE REQUIRED TO SHARE WITH PARENTS. THERE’S ALSO A BILL THAT WOULD CHANGE IOWA’S CHILD LABOR LAWS, AND ANOTHER THAT WOULD PROVIDE PROTECTION FOR LANDOWNERS FROM CARBON CAPTURE PIPELINES. This week is "funnel week" at the Statehouse, meaning all the plans that lawmakers have will be funneled down.By Friday, most bills will have to make it out of the subcommittee and committee in order to stay alive. If they don't, they automatically die and likely won't be able to move forward in this session.Some major bills that still need to make it through committee this week include:Gov.
