The father of a Kansas high school basketball star has died from his injuries after being struck by a car, WLKY reports.
Ava Jones, an Iowa women's basketball commit, was in Louisville with her AAU team for the Run 4 the Roses tournament at the International Convention Center.
Police say the 17-year-old was with her parents and brother Tuesday night when a car drove up onto the sidewalk at Second and Market streets.
Jones and her parents were both seriously hurt. The coroner reports Trey Jones died Thursday night at University Hospital.
The driver, Michael Hurley, admitted to taking hydrocodone and felt tired. He was arrested for assault and driving under the influence.
WLKY was told he will now be charged with murder.
Jones announced her plans to the Hawkeyes just two days before the accident, CBS News reported.
