The CDC in a found that a whopping 77% of Americans are not getting enough aerobic and strength training exercise every week.
The other 23% of Americans age 18 to 64 were able to meet the requirements set by the U.S. Department of Health and Services: at least 75 minutes of vigorous activity or 150 minutes of moderate activity per week, plus muscle training at least twice a week.
The number of healthy Americans varied dramatically by state, however. Colorado scored the highest, with 32.5% of Coloradans being active enough through the week. Also up there were Idaho, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. The states with the worst results were generally clustered in the South, including Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas and Mississippi which had the lowest (13.5%).
The CDC also found that professionals and managers were more likely to get enough exercise than those who worked in production (who likely want nothing more than to get off their feet after a long work day), .
