Dollar Tree and Family Dollar will no longer require shoppers to wear masks at all their stores. They'll instead "request" it. "In accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we are requiring all Associates and vendors to wear face coverings when inside our stores," the retailers' latest policy states. "We also request that our customers wear face coverings and require face coverings where required by state or local ordinance."The announcement comes nearly two weeks after Dollar Tree Incorporated, which owns the two chains, announced shoppers, vendors and employees must wear face coverings. Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores said it will now only require masks if mandated by state or local rules. The company hasn't said why the change was made. The reversal comes as major national retailers like Walmart, Target, Costco, Home Depot and Lowe’s have decided to make face coverings mandatory.
