DNC chair says delay in caucus decision does not mean Iowa's spot is lost
The Chair of the Democratic National Committee said the delay in the caucus decision does not mean Iowa is losing its first-in-the-nation spot.
CBS' Major Garrett posed the question on Face the Nation this morning.
"Can you tell us what the status of the Iowa Caucuses is? The Democratic National Committee continues to delay a decision about that. It appears that Iowa will lose its first-in-the-nation caucus status. True?" Garret asked.
DNC Chair Jaime Harrison denied this claim.
"No, that is not true. Listen, in the end of the day, the DNC is focused on these midterm elections and we're going to allow the presidential cycle schedule to be determined after we're done," Harrison said.
According to the New York Times, the last midterm election is on Nov. 8 in Louisiana, so the fate of Iowa's first-in-the-nation spot might not be revealed until then.
