In 2015, . The service isn't just going to feature content that's already aired on the Disney Channel or movies that premiered in theaters. Just like Netflix, Disney is investing into making original content for its subscribers — including a brand new High School Musical series!
, along with the new High School Musical series, the new Disney streaming service will produce other original TV series, including a Star Wars series, a new original Marvel series, and a Monsters Inc. animated series.
Disney also intends to produce four to five original movies a year, including a brand new Star Wars trilogy written and directed by Star Wars: The Last Jedi director, Rian Johnson.
Disney's entertainment streaming service is expected to launch by the end of 2019 and the good news is that Disney's chairman-CEO Bob Iger says he plans for the service's pricetag to be “substantially below” Netflix’s $10.99 a month because the service will have less content overall. “The price will reflect that,” he said according to Deadline. “Our goal is to attract as many subs as possible starting out.”
With a High School Musical series, they'll have no trouble attracting subscribers.
Now, the question is: how will the HSM series will tie into the HSM movie series overall? Disney Channel has had a fourth movie in the works for a while, but there's no official release date. Could the movie set up the new TV series? And hopefully
