Brooklyn company Kingsway Trading, Inc. recalled a batch of its 1.06 oz bottles of “Well Balance Xanthium & Siler Combo (Bi Yan Pian)." The supplements contained ephedra herba, or ma huang, an FDA-banned herb that can have serious side effects, including heart attack, stroke and death. The affected batches were numbered 130401 and 150201. The products were distributed to Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Illinois, Maryland, Florida, Texas, Missouri, Indiana, Georgia, Colorado, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Oregon, Virginia and Arizona through supplement stores, supermarkets and acupuncture clinics. The items are packed in plastic brown bottles with white caps. Each bottle contains 100 Tablets, each tablet is 300mg. No illnesses have been reported. Consumers who have purchased the product are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
