The 70-year-old man who Des Moines police officers shot and killed early Tuesday morning was armed with a pellet gun, authorities say.The suspect, who has not yet been identified, lived at The Elsie Apartments, located at 430 Grand Avenue. Around 6 a.m. Tuesday, he reportedly threatened a woman on the first floor of that building with the gun before raising it toward officers who responded to the scene. Two officers shot the man, killing him.Authorities said Tuesday that they recovered the man's pistol from the scene.
