Des Moines police shooting: 36-year-old suspect has died after being shot by officers
The man Des Moines police officers shot during a felony warrant check Friday afternoon has died, according to the department.
Officers were called to the 1300 block of E. Tiffin Avenue at around 2:44 p.m. Friday to investigate a report of a person with active felony warrants at a residence. Responding officers located the suspect, a 36-year-old man wanted for domestic violence and child endangerment, as he ran inside the residence, police say.
At around 3:38 p.m., police say an officer communicated via radio that the suspect announced he was armed with a gun. Seconds later, two officers fired, hitting the suspect.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.
No officers were injured, according to police.
