Teen charged with robbery after stealing vehicle at gunpoint in Des Moines
Des Moines police say they have arrested a suspect who stole a vehicle after pulling a gun on the owner.
Police say the owner of a 2017 Dodge Charger met with a person Sunday who they believed was interested in buying the car. During a test drive, police say the suspect pulled out a handgun and stole the vehicle.
Police identified an accomplice vehicle and tracked it to Ames, where the suspect, a 17-year-old male, was found. Detectives also found a 9mm handgun that had previously been reported stolen out of Illinois.
The 17-year-old suspect is facing several charges, including first-degree robbery, assault while committing a felony, and trafficking in stolen weapons. Authorities have not identified the suspect by name because he is a minor.

Des Moines police say the vehicle was found later Tuesday morning in Ames.
