Death Wish Coffee is a small brewing company based in upstate New York. You may remember it from its 2016 Super Bowl commercial, which it won for free, that featured Vikings yelling about welcoming death while rowing into someone's mouth. Basically, Death Wish Coffee has an intense amount of caffeine in it, enough to warrant its gritty name.Death Wish Coffee is recalling its Nitro Cold Brew cans after a lab found traces of a potentially deadly toxin in the coffee. Syracuse.com reports that a Cornell lab discovered a slight risk of Clostridium botulinum during tests. The toxin can cause botulism, a nerve-attacking illness that weakens muscles, leading to difficulty breathing and sometimes death. No illnesses have been reported, according to Death Wish's founder Mike Brown. "We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause our customers and our retail partners, but we believe this is the right precautionary measure to take," said a statement from the company about the recall. Death Wish's regular coffee has 59 milligrams of caffeine per fluid ounce, or about 472 milligrams per cup. Up to 400 milligrams of caffeine a day is considered generally healthy for adult consumption. Stay safe out there.
