End of this one, John talking to people like they remember that game. Two guys born and raised in Iowa know how big the Cy Hawk game is. Kicker Grant Mahoney and wide receiver Josh Lens are sporting Cardinal and gold, but they grew up in eastern Iowa wearing more black and gold. I grew up an Iowa fan and I won to play there on top of feeling snubbed by Iowa in the recruiting process. The Hawks were riding *** three game winning streak in this rivalry heading into the 2011 game. It was my senior year so I hadn't beaten them yet up to that point early in the game, *** familiar tune was Ringing Iowa jumped out to *** 10 0 lead but momentum shifted when Steele G found Darius Reynolds for *** touchdown in the second quarter. Then Mahoney was given the chance to tie the game from 54 yards just before half when you can do that before half. I mean, that's only gives you juice going into half, you can carry on to start the second half. The second half was unlike most Cy Hawk games, *** back and forth offensive battle. And when Gant hit lens in the end zone, the Cyclones had their first lead of the game. I get goosebumps thinking about it right now. The game ended up going into triple overtime with the ISU defense holding the Hawks to *** field goal. The Cyclones needed *** touchdown to win g pitch to James White to the corner sweet success as soon as he got out and pitched it to James, I knew. And so I just, I think I just threw my hands up and started running. I was one of the first people that found the trophies. Me, Kurt Hammersmith and Tom Far that found the trophy and we were like, hey guys, like it's over here and then, and then it broke, it broke on our way to the locker room. There are continued jokes about the trophy that year. We beat it. We get this garage sale trophy. What is this? But for the Cyclones, it's the w in the record books that matters most has had so many streaks of beating Iowa State over the years and it was good to get that monkey off our back.
