If you're the type who gets excited when they come across a street that shares a name with you, a friend, an enemy or just anyone you know, you'll love this: A website , lets users type in two names and find out where in the United States roads that share those names intersect. A fun way to think of this is as the 21st century version of that cafeteria game where you twist an apple stem while reciting the alphabet to see if you pull it off on the first initial of your crush's name, only instead of twisting an apple stem, you can just type your name and a friend's name or loved one's name into a little box and see if/where streets with those names intersect.
Jason Feifer, whose day job is editor in chief of Entrepreneur Magazine, got the idea for the site a few years ago, when he noticed a street sign in Washington, D.C., that shared a name with his wife, Jennifer. "I thought, 'Wouldn't it be awesome if we drove this road one day and it turns out that it intersected with a road named Jason?'" he said. "I thought if I could find a way to actually find that intersection somewhere in America, that would be an amazing place for us to go at some point."
Though there are loads of map services, Feifer didn't know of any that were searchable in a way that would let users find intersections of two specific streets, so he enlisted the help of a few tech-savvy friends and started building his own service that does exactly that. The result is an interactive site that lets you find the intersection of any two street names. Here are some of our favorites:
1. Cat Hallow Road and Dog Hill Road in Connecticut
2. Folk Street and Rock Street in Pennsylvania
3. Thisway Drive and Anyway Drive in Texas
Feifer said he's excited to see how couples use the service to see where their names intersect, and maybe even travel to those places. If you're down for a road trip, this makes for an incredibly cute engagement photo idea. Small towns with cute road names are about to get much more popular.
