A COUPLE FROM GREENVILLE CELEBRATES A VERY BIG WEDDING ANNIVERSARY TODAY. THEY ARE BOTH IN THEIR 90S, BY THE WAY. ISN’T THAT PRECIOUS? AND THEY TOLD GABRIELLE KOMOROWSKI THAT EVEN WHEN TEENAGERS, THEY JUST KNEW. IT WAS THE 1940S. BOB AND ANNE COCHRAN MET IN HIGH SCHOOL. WE WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL TOGETHER IN ILLINOIS, AND I SAT IN FRONT OF HIM IN STUDY HALL. SHE’S THE PRETTIEST GIRL AT SCHOOL. I WAS IN A PAGEANT AND I HAD TO HAVE AN ESCORT. HE WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT WASN’T TAKEN. IT WAS TALLER THAN ME. I THINK SHE WAS ATTRACTED TO ME CAUSE I PLAYED FOOTBALL. I PLAYED BASKETBALL AND HE HAD BROWN EYES. AND EVERYBODY IN MY FAMILY HAD BLUE EYES. SHE THE PRETTIEST GIRL I EVER SAW IN THAT SIGHT. THAT’S SWEET. RELATIONSHIP QUICKLY BLOSSOMED AND LED TO MARRIAGE. BUT THERE ARE NO WEDDING PHOTOS. THE TEENAGERS ELOPED. HE WAS GOING INTO SERVICE AND SPUR OF THE MOMENT. WE DECIDED. HOW LONG HAVE WE BEEN MARRIED? NEARLY 80 YEARS. 80 YEARS OF MARRIAGE. THEY HAVE TWO CHILDREN, FOUR GRANDCHILDREN, SIX GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND ONE GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILD. I THINK THEY WERE JUST REALLY IN LOVE AND THEY HAVE REMAINED THAT WAY. I’VE ALWAYS, EVEN AS A LITTLE GIRL, I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THEY HAD SUCH A ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP. KATHY GRANT SAYS HER PARENTS, WHO ARE NOW 96 AND 97, STAYED ACTIVE IN THEIR COMMUNITY AND THEIR CHURCH. OF COURSE, WE HAD TO ASK THEM FOR SOME MARRIAGE ADVICE. NO, JUST LOVE THEM. BUT NO, YOU HAVE TO BE TOLERANT. CHERISH EVERY DAY AND BE TOLERANT OF YOUR WIFE. THE FAMILY WILL HAVE A PARTY HERE AT THE BLAKE IN GREENEVILLE, CELEBRATING THE EIGHT DECADES OF MARRIAGE. AND BOB AND ANNE’S LEGACY OF LOVE. GA
