The Cincinnati Zoo has announced its 10-year-old sloth, Lightning, is pregnant and is due next summer!Lightning was pregnant in 2021 but, sadly, gave birth to a stillborn pup in October. The zoo says they waited several months after the stillborn birth to put Lightning back with her partner, Moe, and they showed "immediate interest in each other and did what we were hoping they would do." “Lightning is in good health, and we remain optimistic that she will deliver a healthy baby,” said Cincinnati Zoo's zoological manager Julie Grove. Lightning will be kept behind the scenes until after she gives birth, the zoo says. If all goes well, Lightning and her pup will be available to the public beginning in July.Moe will still be in the Discovery Forest habitat.
