'Unjust and illegal': Sen. Chris Van Hollen fighting to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia back to US
THE CONGRESSMAN WERE HERE TO TALK ABOUT FEDERAL CUTS TO NASA PROGRAMS, BUT A LOT OF THE CONVERSATION TURNED TO THE MARYLAND MAN BEING HELD ILLEGALLY IN AN EL SALVADORIAN PRISON. I DON’T THINK HE WANTS TO ESSENTIALLY BE THE PRESIDENT WHO’S KIDNAPED A UNITED STATES CITIZEN. SENATOR CHRIS VAN HOLLEN REACTS TO THE NEWS OF PRESIDENT TRUMP’S MEETING WITH PRESIDENT OF EL SALVADOR, WHO SAID HE WOULD NOT RETURN. KILMER ABREGO GARCIA TO HIS HOME IN MARYLAND. PRESIDENT TRUMP COULD DIRECT HIM TO BRING HIM BACK. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL CAN DIRECT HIM TO BRING HIM BACK. INSTEAD, IT LOOKS LIKE THEY’RE TRYING TO FORCE A CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS AND FORCE THE SUPREME COURT TO ORDER IT DIRECTLY TO THE SUPREME COURT, RULED ABREGO. GARCIA WAS ILLEGALLY DETAINED AND MISTAKENLY DEPORTED TO AN EL SALVADORIAN PRISON, AND ORDERED THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION TO FACILITATE HIS RETURN. THAT HASN’T HAPPENED IN VAN, HOLLEN SAYS HE AGREES WITH LAWYERS FOR THE FAMILY THAT TRUMP ADMINISTRATION LAWYERS SHOULD BE HELD IN CONTEMPT OF COURT. AS A RESULT, THEY ARE CLEARLY JUST SNUBBING THEIR NOSE AT THE COURTS, INCLUDING THE SUPREME COURT. SENATOR VAN HOLLEN WAS CLEAR THAT IF ABREGO GARCIA ISN’T RELEASED, CONGRESS WILL USE THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION’S BUDGET REQUEST TO ADD PRESSURE ON EL SALVADOR. SENATOR VAN HOLLEN SAYS HE PLANS TO MEET WITH THE SALVADORIAN PRESIDENT WHILE HE’S HERE IN THE UNITED STATES. IF NOT, HE STILL PLANS TO TRAVEL TO EL SALVADOR TO MEET HIM THERE.
