A little girl who had been receiving cancer treatments that put her out of school got to go on a $100 shopping spree for brand-new clothes.
Sophia Costa, 6, has been battling leukemia and was too weak to spend kindergarten in a room full of her classmates. Now that her cancer is in remission, doctors are allowing her to enter first grade.
Sophia's mother, Marlene Costa, says she admires her daughter's courage: "After everything that she's been through, she's always had a smile." When the and heard about Sophia's inspiring story, they gave her $100 to spend on brand-new clothes. For Sophia, it's a gift that will give her confidence as she prepares to return to school.
