There's no doubt Caitlin Clark has garnered the attention of the world throughout this year's historic basketball season. Turns out, she's sharing the spotlight with another Iowa native who shares her namesake."The amount of comments I still get in meetings at work, someone will call and be like 'don't you have a game tonight?'" laughs Cedar Falls native, Caitlin Clarke. The lifelong and die-hard University of Northern Iowa fan married into a Hawkeye family. She jokes that her in-laws have tried converting her to cheer for the black and gold for more than a decade."I'll wear an Iowa hat now," smiles Clarke. "It used to be that I would refuse that."Clarke remembers hearing about the up-and-coming basketball player before committing to the University of Iowa and the fact the two shared a common name with an uncommon spelling, something she has a new appreciation for."It's always annoying to be like 'c - a - i - t - l - i -n' but now I know that the famous one spells her name almost exactly the same, so now I'm obsessed," giggles Clarke.Just like the basketball star, Clarke, the aerospace engineer also shares the special number, 22. She was born on Feb. 22; the Iowa Hawkeye star was born on Jan. 22. As a sports fan all her life, Clark says sharing a name with the greatest of all time, couldn't have come at a better time for women's basketball fans."It's fun to get to talk about women's basketball just because of who I am," says Clarke. "I've been such a fan and supporter so now it's fun that I have this connection to bridge conversations.
