This is Drake Relays week. But before all any medals can be handed out to the athletes - Drake has to award a crown. Here he is - Beau in the winner o tonight's 40th annual Beautiful Bulldog contest. Beau will now reign over the 20- 19 Drake Relays. ����vlog's Adam Brower was there - as 40 dogs competed for the crown. It's that face maybe only a mother could love.... Everywhere you look. 40 dogs, all wanting the same thin <"I'VE ALWAY BEEN TOLD YOU NEED TO GET YOUR DOG IN THE BULLDOG CONSTEST, AS YOU CAN HEAR, HE'S EXCIT TOO."> and THAT is THIS crown - and title as MOST beautiful bulldog. They put on their best suit -- or tutu -- to prove it <"NOW IT'S GROWN SO BIG, IT'S HERE IN THE KNAPP CENTER AND WE INTEND TO FILL THE KNAPP CENTER."> And they did. This Drake tradition has been around for four decades <"IT'S FUN TO WATCH THE DIFFERENT COSTUMES BEING DISPLAYED THROUGHOUT."> <"THROUGHOUT THE SPAN OF 40 YEARS THE COSTUMES NEVER FAIL TO IMPRESS. BUT THERE IS ONE THING THAT HAS CHANGED DRASTICALLY, AND THAT'S SOCIAL MEDIA." <"THIS YEAR WE HAD THE 40TH CONTESTANT CHOSEN BY OUR FACEBOOK FOLLOWERS."> Meet Watson - he's that 40th dog - and he can drive a car pretty well. <"THAT'S THEIR TIME TO SHINE AND HAVE FUN!"> So whether it's a win or lose - there's a whole lot of love for these beautiful bulldogs. <"HE LIKES TO LAY ON HIS BACK, WE GOT HIM WHEN HE WAS 12 WEEKS OLD AND THAT'S HOW I HELD HIM. Tomorrow night starting at 6:00 - the Grand Blue Mile will be run in downtown Des Moines. On Wednesday it's the Invitational Pole Vaulting Competition - at Capital Square at 6:00 P-M. And the track and field events get started at Drake Stadium - on Friday. Speaking of the Grand Blue Mile. If you'll be driving in downtown Des Moines tomorrow - expect some road closures. Here's a look at the route. Parts of Grand Avenue - as well as sections of 12th - 13th - and 17th Streets - and Fleur Drive and Locust Street - will be closed for most of the d tomorrow and in the evening.
