As a loving tribute to his late wife, a farmer in South Gloucestershire, U.K., created a heart-shaped meadow that was a family secret for years.Devoted husband Winston Howes started the sweet project over two decades ago when his wife, Janet Howes, passed away. They had enjoyed 33 years of marriage.Winston planted 6,000 oak trees in a 6-acre field on his farm near Wickwar, leaving a heart-shaped clearing in the middle. Its point is directed toward Janet’s childhood home in nearby Wotton Hill. "I came up with the idea of creating a heart in the clearing of the field after Janet died,” Winston told The Telegraph. "I thought it was a great idea – it was a flash of inspiration – and I planted several thousand oak trees. –"Once it was completed we put a seat in the field, overlooking the hill near where she used to live. I sometimes go down there, just to sit and think about things. It is a lovely and lasting tribute to her which will be here for years." The farmer also revealed that daffodils blossom in the center of the heart during spring – the perfect romantic touch. After more than 20 years of growth, the tall trees and hedges hide this touching tribute, which can only been seen by aerial view. And that’s exactly how it was discovered, by hot air balloonist, Andy Collett. He told The Telegraph: "It was a perfect heart hidden away from view – you would not know it was there. You can just imagine the love story."Watch some other couples talk about their incredible love stories in the related video above.
