Bondurant is saying "boo" to the traditional Beggar's Night.
The city decided earlier this year to hold trick-or-treating the last Saturday in October, regardless of the date.
Beggar's Night in the Metro is traditionally celebrated Oct. 30.
"Last year, Beggar's Night just happened to fall on a Saturday last year, and we heard a lot of comments from residents that they appreciated the extra time to get kids ready," said Mayor Doug Elrod.
The decision to switch to Saturdays each year seems popular with both parents and kids.
"I like it because now I have all week to decide what I want to be and my mom can look for cute costumes," said Clara Trueblood, an elementary school student.
Linda Mathers, a former teacher, also sees a benefit to the classroom.
"You don't have kids coming in with a sugar high the next morning, so they can sleep it off on Sunday and be ready for school on Monday," she said. "It was always kind of a challenge keeping their attention after trick-or-treating on a weeknight."
The traditional Beggar's Night date of Oct. 30, the day before Halloween, falls on a Sunday this year.
