THIS HOME IN BONDURANT WHICH IS CLEARLY READY FOR HALLOWEEN RIGHT NOW. AND PEOPLE IN THIS COMMUNITY NO LONGER HAVE TO CHECK THE DAY THAT OCTOBER 30TH FALLS. IT’S THE SEASON FOR PUMPKINS TO GET PLUMP IN FRONT YARDS FOR SKELETONS TO COME OUT OF THE CLOSET. AND THE KIND OF WEBS PEOPLE AREN’T TRYING TO CLEAN OFF THEIR WINDOWS. MOST OF ALL, IT’S A TIME FOR KIDS TO START THINKING ABOUT WHAT THEY’LL WEAR AND WHAT KIND OF CANDY THEY’LL EAT. ADDED IT BONDURANT. TRICK OR TREATING WILL NOW ALWAYS HAPPEN. THE LAST SATURDAY IN OCTOBER. I THINK IT’S A GOOD IDEA THAT WAY. WE HAVE MORE TIME TO GET OUR KIDS READY, MORE TIME TO ENJOY IT. REALLY. THE MOVE BREAKS FROM THE BEGGARS NIGHT TRADITION OF OCTOBER 30TH. MAYOR DOUG ELROD SAYS THE CITY DECIDED EARLIER THIS YEAR TO CHANGE THE DATE AFTER HEARING FROM THE COMMUNITY LAST YEAR. BEGGARS NIGHT JUST HAPPEN TO FALL ON A SATURDAY LAST YEAR AND WE HEARD A LOT OF COMMENTS FROM RESIDENTS THAT THEY APPRECIATED THE TIME, THE EXTRA TIME TO GET KIDS READY, GET HOME FROM WORK, GET HOME FROM SCHOOL, GET THEM DRESSED IN COSTUMES AND GET THEM OUT THE DOOR. CLARA TRUEBLOOD IS ONE YOUNG FAN OF THE SWITCH. SHE WAS OUT FOR A WALK WITH HER GRANDMA WHEN WE ASKED HER ABOUT THE CHANGE TO SATURDAYS EVERY YEAR. WE LIKE IT BECAUSE NOW WE HAVE ALL WEEK TO DECIDE WHAT I WANT TO BE AND MY MOM CAN WORK FOR LIKE CUTE COSTUMES AND THE FORMER TEACHER ALSO THINKS IT WILL HELP KIDS IN THE CLASSROOM. YOU DON’T HAVE KIDS COMING IN WITH A SUGAR HIGH THE NEXT MORNING SO THEY CAN SLEEP IT OFF ON SUNDAY AND BE READY FOR SCHOOL ON MONDAY. SO YEAH, IT WAS ALWAYS KIND OF A CHALLENGE KEEPING THEIR ATTENTION AFTER TRICK OR TREATING ON A WEEKNIGHT. BONDURANT HAS TRAINED, HAS BEEN TRYING TO GET OUT THE WORD ABOUT IT’S NEW DAY AND IT SAYS IT DOES EXPECT SOME OUT-OF-TOWNERS TO COME IN SO THEY CAN TRICK OR TREAT TWICE. WE’RE LIVE IN BONDURANT ANDREW MOLLENBECK.
