Madame Tussauds accused of whitewashing over a Beyoncé wax figure

Apparently, it was all a lighting issue

UPDATE 7/21/2017: According to The New York Times, the statue has been taken off the floor of the New York City Madame Tussauds "until further notice," and a museum representative declined to answer why the statue was no longer on display.Beyoncé is so famous, most people on the street can instantly recall what she looks like without even having to see a photo. So if you close your eyes and imagine the singer in your mind's eye, does she look like this?If you thought there was something off about it, most of the internet agrees with you. The figure in question comes from a Madame Tussauds wax figure of Beyoncé, which was recently moved to New York City. Though one could argue that the outfit is similar to one she would wear, it's a little harder to miss the overall lighter appearance of her skin in that shot, though the internet quickly learned that this was far from the only Beyoncé figure lacking melanin:While Twitter responses show that multiple Beyoncé wax figures look more washed out than the star typically appears, the Madame Tussauds team stood by its sculptors' efforts, in a statement to Page Six:"At Madame Tussauds, our talented team of sculptors take every effort to ensure we accurately colour match all of our wax figures to the celebrity being depicted. Lighting within the attraction combined with flash photography may distort and misrepresent the colour of our wax figures which is something our sculptors are unable to account for at the production stage."Whatever the case, the Beyhive are not okay with the new statue. And hey, maybe it's all a case of man not being able to replicate Queen Bey's visage:
