THERE AS WELL. OPHELIA. YEAH. BEN. STACY I WAS ACTUALLY THERE AS HE WAS GOING DOOR TO DOOR IN URBANDALE A LITTLE OVER A WEEK AGO. AND IT’S NOT EVERY DAY THAT YOU GET A FORMER GOVERNOR AT A LOCAL PIZZA BAR ON INGERSOLL IN DES MOINES, IOWA, BUT THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT WE HAVE HERE. WE’RE AT GUSTO ON INGERSOLL AT HIS WATCH PARTY, JOINED BY FORMER ARKANSAS GOVERNOR ASA HUTCHINSON. WANT TO GET YOUR REACTIONS TO THE RESULTS THAT YOU’VE SEEN TONIGHT? TWO HOURS AFTER THE CAUCUSES STARTED? WELL, OF COURSE, DONALD TRUMP LOOKS LIKE HE HAS A BIG VICTORY TONIGHT. THE FINAL RESULTS ARE NOT IN. I THINK WE’RE ALL A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED THAT THAT PROJECTION WAS ANNOUNCED BEFORE. THE VOTES HAD EVEN BEEN CAST OR STARTED TO BE CAST IN THE PRECINCT THAT I WENT TO. UH, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE HE’S GOING TO HAVE A STRONG VICTORY TONIGHT. AND I THINK THE EXACT MARGINS ARE UNDETERMINED. YET OBVIOUSLY I’M DISAPPOINTED THE RESULTS SO FAR, BUT WE STILL HAVE A LOT OF VOTES TO COME IN AND HOPEFULLY THOSE NUMBERS WILL CHANGE AS THE EVENING GOES ON. AND YOU MENTIONED BEING AT A PRECINCT EARLIER TODAY IN CLIVE CAN YOU TALK TO ME A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THAT EXPERIENCE, ABOUT BEING ABLE TO ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF IN PERSON IN FRONT OF HUNDREDS OF IOWANS THERE? WELL, IT’S A NEW EXPERIENCE FOR ME. AND FIRST OF ALL, I APPLAUD IOWA FOR THEIR DEDICATION, FOR COMING OUT ON A VERY COLD NIGHT. AND IT’S A GREAT EXAMPLE OF DEMOCRACY. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE MY CASE. DONALD TRUMP SPOKE RIGHT AFTER ME. VIVEK RAMOS SWAMI SPOKE, SPOKE AS WELL. AND UH, NIKKI, SO WE HAD A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT WERE MAKING THEIR CASE THERE. AND UH, SO I THOUGHT IT WAS A WELL RUN CAUCUS WHO CAN’T COMPLAIN ABOUT THAT. I DON’T HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT. I’VE BEEN TREATED FAIRLY HERE. WE JUST DIDN’T HAVE THE RESOURCES REALLY, TO CAPITALIZE ON SOME OF THE OPPORTUNITIES WHEN THE OTHER CANDIDATES DROPPED OUT. WE ALL KNOW THE IOWA CAUCUSES ARE ABOUT EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS. WHEN I WAS WITH YOU OVER A WEEK AGO, DOORKNOCKING YOUR CAMPAIGN TOLD ME A TOP FOUR FINISH IS WHAT YOU YOU ALL ARE AIMING FOR. IS TONIGHT EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS SO FAR FOR YOU? WELL, OF COURSE IT LOOKS LIKE, UH, TOP FIVE. WHICH MEANS THAT, UH, YOU KNOW, VIVEK RIGHT NOW IS LEADING. WE’LL SEE IF THAT CHANGES OVER THE COURSE OF THE NIGHT. UH, AND WE WANTED TO BEAT EXPECTATIONS. OF COURSE, I POLLED LOW, AND I WANTED TO BE ABLE TO GET A BUMP OUT OF HERE THAT WE INCREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF SUPPORT ON A VERY LOW BUDGET CAMPAIGN. UH, BUT, UH, YOU KNOW, RIGHT NOW, UH, WE NEED TO MAKE MORE PROGRESS BEFORE I CAN SAY WE’VE BEAT EXPECTATIONS. STEPHEN BAYNES. AND YOUR MESSAGE TO THOSE IOWANS WHO DID PICK YOU AS THEIR FIRST PICK FOR PRESIDENT THIS EVENING. WELL, I’M VERY GRATEFUL TO THEM. I MEAN, THEY SPOKE THEIR CONVICTIONS, AND, UH, UH, IT MEANS A LOT TO ME. SO I’M GRATEFUL FOR THEIR SUPPORT. AND THERE’S MANY OTHERS THAT, UH, YOU KNOW, HAD ME IN SECOND PLACE. OR, YOU KNOW, WHAT WOULD BE A SECOND? AND THEY SHIFTED TO NIKKI AND, UH, YOU KNOW, THEY’RE REFLECTING A LOT OF THE VALUES THAT I REPRESENT. AND IT’S JUST, UH, THEY WENT A DIFFERENT DIRECTION. SO, UH, I CAN’T COMPLAIN ABOUT IT. UH, WE HOPE THESE NUMBERS CHANGE AS THE EVENING GOES ON. UH, WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE OUR CASE, THOUGH, LIKE YOU SAID THESE EVENING, THESE NUMBERS WILL CHANGE AS THE EVENING GOES ON. BUT LOOKING AHEAD PAST IOWA, YOUR PLANS FOR YOUR CAMPAIGN FOLLOWING THIS EVENING? WELL, THIS AFTERNOON, I DUG OUR CAR OUT OF THE SNOW AND SO NOW WE HAVE SOME TRANSPORTATION. IF I GO BACK TO ARKANSAS, WE PLAN ON, UH, GOING TO NEW HAMPSHIRE. I GOT MY FLIGHT BOOKED THERE, BUT WE’RE GOING TO REEVALUATE IT AFTER THIS EVENING AND WE’LL SEE WHERE WE FINALLY WIND UP AND WHETHER WE’VE GOT THE STRENGTH TO CARRY ON THIS CAMPAIGN BEYOND, UH, IOWA. WELL, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US THIS EVENING. AND LIKE WE SAID, WE WILL ALSO BE MONITORING THE RESULTS AS THEY CONTINUE TO COME IN. WE’VE BEEN SAYING ALL NIGHT IT’S STILL EARLY, SO STAY TUNED TO vlog AS WE CONTINUE TO BRING THOSE RESULTS. BUT FOR NOW LIVE IN DES MOINES. OFELIA JAC

As one of the Republican candidates who has been more direct in his criticism of the GOP front-runner and former President Donald Trump, Hutchinson said he’s noted a bump in New Hampshire support since Chris Christie left the race.“I applaud Iowa for the dedication and for coming out on a very cold night. It’s a great example of democracy," Hutchinson said. “I thought it was a well-run caucus. I can’t complain about that. I’ve been treated fairly here, we just didn’t have the recourses to capitalize on some of the opportunities when some of the other candidates dropped out.”Hutchinson had previously said he was aiming for a top-four finish in Iowa.
