Country music star Carrie Underwood is pregnant with her second child. But getting there hasn't been easy for Underwood, who said in a CBS News interview she has had three miscarriages in two years.“I had always been afraid to be angry. Because we are so blessed," Underwood told CBS News. "And my son, Isaiah, is the sweetest thing. And he’s the best thing in the world. And I’m like, ‘If we can never have any other kids, that’s OK, because he’s amazing.’ And I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t. I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No.”She suffered a serious fall in 2017, which led to 40 to 50 stitches in her face and surgery on her wrist, she said.“It was … a very soul-searching year for me," Underwood said in a Redbook interview. "There were some personal things that happened. And I had the accident and all of that to get through … and just life. Life is full of ups and downs, and I might have had a few more downs than ups last year.”Underwood, who is married to retired Nashville Predators captain Mike Fisher, said she "got mad," praying and crying, assuming that the couple's most recent attempt to get pregnant had, again, failed.“Why on Earth do I keep getting pregnant if I can’t have a kid? Like, what is this? Shut the door. Like, do something. Either shut the door or let me have a kid,” Underwood, the 2005 "American Idol" winner, said to CBS News.“And for the first time ... I told God how I felt,” she said. “That was like a Saturday — and the (next) Monday I went to the doctor to, like, confirm, another miscarriage. And they told me everything was great! And I was like, 'You heard me.' Not that he hasn't in the past. But maybe, I don't know, he heard me."Underwood released her sixth studio album "Cry Pretty" on Sept. 14 and plans a tour in the spring."I feel like there's a lot of songs, there's several songs on the album that came from that, you know, or I connect with in a totally different way because of those experiences that we went through," she said. "And they were hard. And it sucked so much! But things are looking better."
