107-year-old woman at polling place: 'Get out there and vote'
Even within the first few hours of voting, a clear winner was emerging on Election Day: democracy.
"Usually we’d be sitting here trying to figure out if we can play a game of pinochle because there’s nobody coming in the door. It’s really good to see," election warden John Donovan said.
At a polling location in Boston on Tuedsay, there were early signs that voter turnout will be higher than usual for a midterm election.
"I think it’s great, especially among the young voters. It’s really important for us to get out and vote," one voter said.
Some voters said they’re emboldened by what’s going on in Washington.
"Because of President Donald Trump," one voter said.
“If you want to change, you got to vote. Even the millennials are voting, which is exciting,” another voter said.
“It’s always important every election, always. Right now, it’s the tipping point in our country, and scary,” another voter said.
At 107 years old, Elinor Downs managed to make it to the polls. She had one message for procrastinators.
“Get out there and vote,” she said.
